role:Under the direction of the Health Services Administrator
(HSA), Program Manager (PM), or higher licensed medical
professional, the Substance Abuse Counselor will work in close
collaboration with physicians and other health care personnel in
the evaluation and treatment of patient population. The Substance
Abuse Counselor will provide treatment and support to assist
patients receiving care in their recovery from addictions, such as
alcoholism, drug addiction, mental disorders, eating disorders, or

you bring to the table:Education:High School and specialized
training for licensing/certification(s).Experience:At least one
year of experience providing treatment to individuals with
substance abuse disorder within a correctional
facilityLicenses/Certifications:Current (and must maintain)
unrestricted license or certificate in state of practiceCurrent
(and must maintain) lifesaving BLS/ACLS certification through
AHAWhat you will do:Provide assessments, treatment planning, and
counseling for substance abuse program clientsProvide education,
consultation services, and training for other staff, community
agencies, and the publicPerform prevention activities designed to
prevent alcohol and drug abuse in the CountyWorks in close
collaboration with physicians and other health care personnel in
the evaluation and treatment to further their understanding of
significant social and emotional factors underlying patient's
substance abuse health problemCompletes comprehensive assessment
timely of admission and coordinates information with team to
effectively plan treatmentLocates and/or develops self-help and
support groups for clients, families and significant othersProvides
on- call crisis response and intervention servicesMaintains
compliance with all applicable practice standards and
guidelinesMaintains client confidentiality and adherence to HIPAA
requirementHelps patient and family to understand, accept, and
follow substance abuse recommendationsMaintains a professional
relationship with county staff and healthcare teamDocument all
findings in patient's health record providing written summaries of
all patient encourters, including but not limited to history,
diagnosis and treatment course or other documentation requirements
as outlined by Wellpath and FacilityMay assist in the job shadow
portion of the interview process of potential staffMay assist in
orientation and training of new employeesPerform other duties as
