Position title:
Stevenson 96 Peer Tutoring Pre-six Lecturer
Salary range:
Commensurate with qualifications and experience and the particular
courses the Lecturer is appointed to teach. Compensation for Summer
Session courses may vary from courses taught during the academic
year.
Percent time:
Variable, based on the course load assigned.
Anticipated start:
Appointments are contingent on the hiring unit's instructional need
and the availability of funding. Appointments are typically made
during one or more quarters of the regular academic year (fall,
winter, and spring quarters), but they may also be made during
Summer Session. This recruitment is valid for initial appointments
beginning in spring quarter 2022 through spring quarter 2023.
Initial appointments made after this period must be made through
other recruitments.

Position description
Stevenson College at the University of California, Santa Cruz
(UCSC) invites applications for qualified lecturers to teach the
Stevenson 96 Peer Tutoring course, which serves undergraduates who
are hired as Tutors and Learning Assistants in the Learning Support
Services (LSS) program. Course topics include, but are not limited
to, introduction and training in the area of learning theory ;
small group and individual tutoring techniques; effective
communication skills; methods for attaining cultural competence as
an educator; effective university-level, discipline-specific
learning strategies; and informal assessment and evaluation
techniques.
LSS provides course-specific academic support for all UCSC
undergraduate students. Stevenson 96 Peer Tutoring instructors are
responsible for facilitating the coordination and communication
among students and staff involved with LSS. The LSS staff will work
collaboratively with the instructor to present relevant content and
information for the course.
