Job Description:

The Rachel Carson College at the University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC) invites applications for an ongoing pool of lecturers who may be appointed to teach in its non-core undergraduate courses, especially in the areas of sustainability studies and science and entrepreneurship. The theme of the College is "Environment and Society" (see ) and most of these classes focus on one aspect or another of social and ecological sustainability, from the social science, natural science, and engineering perspectives. These courses are interactive, involving both classroom instruction and hands-on experiential learning. The ideal candidate will have both instructional and occupational experience in fields and areas relevant to the advertised position, be willing to work with and mentor enthusiastic and dedicated students and student groups, and be committed to increasing diversity in the green economy. The successful candidates must be able to work with students, faculty, and staff from a wide range of social and cultural backgrounds. We are especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community.
