ITS promotes two areas for skill growth:

SocSci-IT is one of a handful of ITS academic support groups that
exist within the Products & Service Unit that utilize localized ITS
staff embedded in the campus' academic divisions to provide
personalized, discipline-specific, IT support to faculty, staff,
and students in accomplishing the academic mission. We leverage
commonalities through cross-divisional technical communities to
develop and deliver right-sized / right-priced common services as
appropriate, aggregating what we learn and provide that as input to
the larger ITS community. This position provides strategic
direction, technical leadership, and human and resource management
to develop and deliver IT services to the Social Sciences division,
and its departments, research centers, and programs. Incumbent
works as part of a collaborative leadership team that delivers
coordinated IT services to faculty across the academic divisions
and the Silicon Valley Center.

Salary Information Salary Range: $75,000-$80,000/annually.
Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.

The mission of the Academic Computing Expert (ACE)/ Information
Technology Services (ITS) / SocSci-IT is to optimize the use of
available resources within ITS and Social Sciences in achieving the
following three objectives:
1) Working with the faculty and graduate students of the division
to realize their maximum potential with respect to their
discipline-specific instruction and research objectives.
2) Developing and providing a stable, robust infrastructure that
will support the current and expected instruction and research
needs of the faculty and graduate students of the division, and its
departments, research centers, and programs.
3) Developing and providing a stable, robust infrastructure that
will support the current and expected administrative needs of the
staff of the division, and its departments, research centers, and
Qualifications / Competencies Broad knowledge of various areas of
Advanced skills associated with programming design, modification,
Basic knowledge of secure software development.
Demonstrated ability to create software specifications.
Demonstrated ability to install software and troubleshoot and
repair moderately complex problems with computing devices,
peripherals, and software.
Understanding of and experience troubleshooting client, server, and
peripherals-related issues and actions that can be taken to improve
or correct performance.
Experience in incident response and digital forensics, including
data collection, examination, and analysis.
Thorough knowledge of business and process analysis functions.
Knowledge of the design, development, and application of technology
and systems to meet business needs.
Demonstrated experience with database administration. Working
knowledge of database management systems and standards. Knowledge
relating to database system design.
Advanced database querying and modeling skills working with
moderately complex databases.
Familiarity with logical data design and data mapping or data
