Job Description:
The Legal Studies Program at the University of California, Santa
Cruz (UCSC) invites applications for an ongoing pool of lecturers
who may be appointed to teach courses in the program's
undergraduate curriculum at the lower or upper division level
consistent with the program's curricular offerings. Courses may
include Legal Studies 10- Introduction to the Legal Process, theory
themed courses, public law and institutions themed courses, law and
society themed courses, and Senior Capstone courses.
The Legal Studies Program, which is administered by the Politics
Department, is an interdisciplinary undergraduate major that seeks
to integrate the study of law and legal issues through the
contributions of such fields as politics, philosophy, economics,
anthropology, sociology, psychology, feminist studies, and
environmental studies.
We look for candidates with expertise in any of the following
areas: comparative and international law, human rights, legal
theory, race and gender and the law, environmental law, public law
and institutions, and law and society. Applicants with any of the
following qualifications are strongly encouraged to apply: A Ph.D.
in a relevant social science or humanities related field,
demonstrated excellence in undergraduate teaching, demonstrated
interest in interdisciplinary law-related issues, and/or a
combination of training in law and a relevant discipline.
The campus is especially interested in candidates who can
contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic
community through their teaching and other assigned duties.
