Resusciation ProgramDepartment III NICU, majority of babies are
Level II, growers and feeders at 24-25 weeks. Will only transfer
babies to another hospital if they have a cardiac diagnosis.
Average census is 10 patients. There are 15 rooms, plus 6 open
bays, and an isolation room. The nurse to patient ratio is based on
acuity, but majority of the time it is 1:3. There is a Charge RN
available that does not take a patient assignment. There is a
Medical Unit Clerk that runs labs, cleans equipment, schedules
appointments, and answers phones during the day (not available from
11:00PM-7:00AM).Misc 2 years experience working in NICU setting.
May float to L&D to resuscitate baby until stable and 10
minutes of life. May also float to Pediatrics to be an extra set of
hands, not take a patient assignment. Requirements: Licensed as a
Registered Nurse in the State of California, BLS issued through
American Heart Association and NRP. Will work 3-4 (12 hour) weekend
shifts on a 28 day schedule. There is self-scheduling in Women s
Services and will be given to the staff first, then travelers. The
Director and leaders will then balance the schedule based on
experience and skill set. Charting: Meditech. WOWs are provided to
each RN for charting; Medication Administration: Pyxis; IV Pumps:
SolarisScrubs: Any color of professional scrubs. No other facility
names or logos permitted on the scrubs. Orientation offered Monday
s only. Will start in Human Resources and complete paperwork and
obtain badge, next onto Occupational Health for Respiratory Fit
Test and then will meet with Nursing Education to complete
appropriate testing for their unit. All RNs will take a medication
test the first day. After testing, will go to the unit to finish
their shift with a Clinical Preceptor. Guaranteed Hours: 36
