qualified PCU RN in Santa Cruz, California, 95065! Pay Information
$2,625 per week About The Position Job Title: Registered Nurse -
Stepdown Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: TCU/Stepdown
Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours

Certified Nurse if applying for Charge Nurse position Description:
Stepdown nurses are required. This unit is a true stepdown unit
with telemetry and cardiac intervention beds. There are a total of
44 beds: 20 telemetry beds, 16 cardiac intervention beds, and 8
overflow telemetry beds. All beds operate under the same cost
center, so nurses will cover all types of beds. The
nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:3 or 1:4 based on patient acuity. The
electronic medical record system used is Cerner. Charge nurses do
not manage patients. Nurse aides are assigned at a ratio of 1 per
every 12 patients and will have 3 aides if the unit is full.
Weekend shifts are required every other weekend, covering
Friday/Saturday nights or Saturday/Sunday days. Holiday shifts are
rotated, requiring work every other holiday. Scrub color is navy.
Telemetry monitoring is done using Phillips monitors, and nurses
must be able to read and interpret strips. Monitor technicians are
available for assistance. The unit does not manage full ventilation
but does support CPAP, BIPAP, and high-flow oxygen therapy. A
hospitalist or intensivist is available in-house 24/7 for patient
care. An IV team is present from 08:00 to 16:00. Respiratory
therapy is available 24/7. Pharmacy services are also available
24/7. Common diagnoses include post-cardiac catheterization
patients, which may include clean and intervention cases. Patients
may also include those post-TEE, post-cardioversion, and ablation
patients, as well as AICD recipients. Occasionally, external
temporary pacemaker patients and transcutaneous pacing may be
admitted. Nurses must manage chest tubes, tube feedings, and
various drains. Fluency in medication titration is essential,
including drugs such as amiodarone, cardizem, nitroglycerin,
pressors, dopamine, insulin, and heparin. Stepdown nurses are
