The LVN directs and guides patient teaching and activities that are commensurate with his/her education, demonstrated competencies and Nursing Practice Act (NPA). The LVN works directly with patients who are Incompetent to Stand Trial (IST) to provide their medications, to gather vitals, conduct chart reviews, and work closely with the psychiatric prescriber on the care, treatment and services for IST patients. LVN also responsible for facilitating the tele-psychiatry appointments for IST patients. Provides some restoration of competency services to IST patients in both group and individual formats.Additional Details: $2,500 Sign On Bonus! What you bring to the table:EducationGraduate from an accredited School of NursingExperienceOne (1) or more years clinic experience preferredLicenses/CertificationsCurrent licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) in the state of employmentCurrent CPR certification requiredWhat you will do:KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:As per the NPA, the LVN assists in the assessment and data collection of the physical, psychological and social dimensions of patients in the correctional setting.Assists in planning an individual treatment plan by using available resources in planning care and consults withRDON/ RNs and other staff as appropriate while applying knowledge and resources in planning care and patient teaching.Gather patient vitals and provide/ document the information for the psychiatric providerConduct chart reviews and work closely with psychiatric prescriber on IST patient care needsFacilitate the tele-psychiatry appointments on the patient side of the tablet/ camera, assisting the psychiatric prescriber as needed.Provide restoration of competency services in both group and individual formats in accordance with the patient's treatment planCount controlled substances, syringes, needles and sharps at the beginning of each shift with another staff member and sign count logs as needed.Implements clinical and technical aspects of care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols. Intervenes with proper safety techniques, procedures and standard precautions.Responds to a code or health emergency within standard guidelines.Implements medical plan through administering medications in accordance with Health Care Practitioner's orders and protocols: Administers medications according to proper techniques and procedures including IV therapy, pursuant to competency and all other approved routes of administration. Uses pharmacy knowledge and available resources to include drug reaction and overdose in administration of medications.Implements medical plans through obtaining diagnostic tests in accordance with Health Care Practitioner's orders and protocols: Obtains body fluid specimens and performs EKG's using proper techniques and procedures.Communicates information to ancillary departments using established referral process.Assists the Health Care Practitioner in medical or minor surgical procedures as necessary and/or requested to meet individual needs of patients.As competencies are demonstrated in the unstructured correctional setting, it is the LVN's responsibility to ensure he/she has access to an appropriate supervisor and that the policies, procedures and guidelines for that setting are established to guide the LVN practice.Implement nutrition and therapeutic diet plan through proper techniques and procedures as ordered by Health Care Practitioner.Documents nursing encounters using the SOAPE form of charting as required by policy and procedure.Communicates information to nursing staff, physician, health care unit supervisory personnel and other staff as necessary.Wellpath is an EOE/Minorities/Females/Vet/Disability EmployerOur investment in you:Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance plan optionsTime off & leave benefits401KTuition ReimbursementParental benefitsPerks and discountsAnd more available here Compensation Range: $32 - $36 / hour
