Summary Statement Under the oversight of the Baskin School of
Engineering Dean, the Westside Research Park (WRP) located on 2300
Delaware Avenue about 2.5 miles from the main campus, is
transforming into an important interdisciplinary research campus.
Constructed in 1980 and acquired in 2004, the WRP comprises 18.5
acres and two buildings with about 243,000 GSF for academic and
administrative offices and research laboratories with complex
infrastructure, utilities and equipment. Current occupants include
faculty, researchers, staff and graduate students in Materials
Sciences (PB Sci Division); the Genomics Institute, Robotics, Smart
Power (Baskin Engineering); the Center for Force Majeure (Arts),
and Admissions (Undergraduate Education).
The WRP Facilities Manager is responsible for managing a wide range
of building and site issues, problems and activities, including
safety, access, maintenance, remodeling and construction
activities, emergency and regulatory questions. The manager is the
primary liaison for occupants as well as campus and external
agencies and contractors. The manager collaborates with department
and campus leadership on space planning and site development.
Qualifications / Competencies Bachelor's degree in related area and
/ or equivalent experience / training.
Advanced knowledge in the areas of building space planning, codes,
capacity, security, fire safety, organization and departmental
principles and procedures involved in risk assessment and
evaluating risks as to likelihood and consequences.
Advanced interpersonal and communication skills.
Advanced skills in working collaboratively and influencing
Advanced skills to effectively prioritize and manage short-long
term tasks and projects.
Advanced skills to assess processes or services to make
improvements and in project management.
Knowledge of and experience with identifying management and
physical security and access systems.
Experience in negotiation and management of service contracts.
Experience in community relations and stakeholder
Preferred Qualifications / Competencies Advanced knowledge of
architectural or engineering concepts.
Advanced knowledge and skill regarding specialized research needs
in space planning and advanced skill to effectively translate needs
to professional architects and engineers.
Knowledge of UCSC procurement policies and practices.

50 Facilities Management Applies advanced concepts in site
management with multi-divisional occupants and external agencies
regarding safety, access, maintenance, remodeling and construction

Provides planning and coordination for construction and alteration
of projects on a continuing basis.
Develops budgets for management review to include moves with
significant building infrastructure upgrades.
Safety Duties All UCSC employees must know and follow job safety
