University invites applications for part-time temporary lecturer
faculty positions in Fall 2024- Spring 2025 for its undergraduate
programs in Journalism, Photojournalism, and Bilingual Spanish
Journalism.Founded in 1960, the Journalism Department educates
students in research, writing, multimedia, and critical thinking
skills to prepare for careers in journalism and related fields. The
department is steeped in the traditions of journalism as an agent
of social change and a bulwark for a healthy democracy. Required
curriculum includes a 12-unit Equity Core covering diversity, law,
ethics, and social impact of journalism. Skills courses vary by
concentration, and all are capped at 20 students.The department's
mission is "to educate students and provide leadership in an
evolving media landscape by promoting excellence, integrity,
creativity and social responsibility in telling the stories of a
multicultural world." The Journalism Department offers three B.A.
degrees: Journalism, Photojournalism, and Bilingual Spanish

- Bachelor's degree in Journalism or closely related field;
- Master's degree in Journalism or closely related field and/or
at least five years of professional experience in journalism, which
could include photojournalism, multimedia, reporting, writing,
editing, social media, etc.Preferred:
- A master's degree in Journalism or closely related field is
preferred; a Ph.D. in journalism, communications or a related field
is welcome;
- Record of teaching experience in the areas of journalism,
narrative non-fiction, multimedia, documentary filmmaking, graphic
design, or related fields;
- Demonstrated ability to incorporate inclusion, diversity, and
educational equity in teaching;
- Experience working closely with students from historically
underrepresented communities;
- Record of contributing to collegial, supportive, and

Full-Time Equivalent Salary Range: $5,007 - $6,359 per
monthLecturer B/3 Full-Time Equivalent Salary Range: $5,925 -
$12,594 per monthLecturer C/4 Full-Time Equivalent Salary Range:
$6,500 - $13,831 per monthLecturer D/5 Full-Time Equivalent Salary
Range: $8,184 - $14,487 per monthAnticipated hiring range is
generally at or near the minimum of the appropriate range,
commensurate with education and experience. Most new lecturers are
hired at the Lecturer A or B rank.College of Liberal and Creative
