financial services concepts. Applies organization policies and
procedures to resolve a variety of moderately complicated issues.
Works on financial services problems of moderate scope where
analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of
factors. Analysts in the unit are responsible for managing the
receipt and reconciliation of financial aid funds received from
external agencies including state, federal and private agencies and
for ensuring accurate and timely delivery of funds to eligible
students. Funds and student award data must be reconciled in
multiple databases including the campus financial and student
systems as well as in federal and state databases. The incumbent
has primary responsibility for reconciling financial services
transactions related to state and federal aid, outside agency loans
and scholarships, and processing return of funds to outside
agencies. APPOINTMENT INFORMATION Budgeted Salary: $32.27 -
$33.04/hourly. Salary commensurate with skills, qualifications and
experience. Under California law, the University of California,
Santa Cruz is required to post a reasonable estimate of the
compensation for this role. The salary shown above is the budgeted

2) Travel: Never or Rarely JOB DUTIES 15% - Applies professional
financial and accounting concepts to independently perform analyses
of moderately complex financial services such as researching fund
discrepancies and the transfer of expenses, return of funds to
outside agencies, and compliance with external regulations and
internal policies. 20% - Under general supervision, researches and
gathers information from a variety of sources; prepares and
summarize information and reports relative to financial and student
level transactions, current & new services for management review
and regulatory/compliance issues and vendor selection and support
activities. 20% - Assists with ensuring that financial processing
functions which may include accounts payable, accounts receivable,
recharge billing, and cashiering are performed with accuracy and
that daily operations run smoothly. Reviews, processes, and
approves standardized financial data and transactions. 15% -
Functions as a resource to support staff on issues such as
researching complex financial discrepancies, escalated customer
service problems and vendor concerns. May act as a team leader for
support staff. Trains staff and creates effective teamwork
environment. Monitors the delivery of quality customer service to
various constituencies to include internal department clients and
external partners. 15% - Conducts or assists with researching,
developing and implementing new and changing business processes.
Ensures that the appropriate internal controls are addressed,
maintained and strengthened to protect University resources. 15% -
Assesses and recommends changes to maintain compliance with federal
and state requirements and internal financial/audit policies
Participates in audits of internal records and processes and
prepares recommendations for changes as needed. Documents processes
and procedures for financial activities used in the administration
of financial aid funds. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Working knowledge of financial processes and financial services
transactions, policies and procedures.
- Proficiency in the use of spreadsheet and database
software.

- Effective written communication skills.

- Experience with reconciliation of student aid program

- Familiarity with federal and state aid programs such as Federal

QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent
experience/training.
- Skills to provide coaching and mentoring to support staff.
- Strong knowledge of financial data management and reporting
